Fashion Pool

So I've made my way back to FIT after 6 years! Pretty crazy that it's been six years already, but I am so so sooo happy to be back. Seeing the city skyline still gives me butterflies and makes me extremely happy just as much as it always has. I have some bizarre extreme love for this city. It inspires me and fills me with energy, with so much chaos and movement I somehow feel less stressed, almost relieved when I am there. I feel more home than anywhere else, I feel like it's the missing link to my being when I am not there. SO not only has finally putting my talents to use and learning more excited me, but being in the city regularly has too. Everything feels so right this time around, probably because I am doing something that I really want to do and am genuinely good at. I can bust out a line of accessories so quickly it's insane. Never in my life did I ever plan or even think that I would be an accessory designer. I just fell into it, it just gradually started to happen it's so bizarre. At some point I consciously stopped trying to live so much according to how I planned it should be at what age and what I should have been doing. Instead, I just followed life much like driftwood on the ocean. I've been going wherever the waves push me and eventually i'll arrive on the shore of where I should be. It's amazing how much easier life starts to feel when you start paying attention to signs and opportunities and going with them instead of working against them or not taking them just out of fear. I get so anxious for classes all the time because it doesn't even feel like class. I'm so eager to learn all these new things about accessory making and I love sitting in class just designing things. I just entirely love it so much, I'm so passionate about it and bringing my own vision and style to the fashion industry. I could go on and on, I just feel really great about my life and the direction it's been going in. My hard work is paying off and I love seeing the results of it.

New York is being ravaged by 60 mph winds and rain, there are trees down everywhere and the wind is strong enough to push me. Not a joke. Mother nature has sneezed majorly on the North East, so gesundheit to her! While driving home I felt like I was in some awful sci-fi movie about the end of the world ( 2012 probably was this in a nutshell) and the street lights were flickering on and off, there were trees down all over the place cars being pushed by the wind. It was seriously out of a movie, if only there were intense soundtrack music it would have been perfect. Instead I relaxed my nerves with Bon Iver because I was having a mini heart attack every time my car was shaken by the wind. I made it home and said a little thank you prayer to the universe when I walked out of my care safely and hoped that no one else would be hurt that was out there tonight. Sometimes I worry about strangers, that might sound odd but I have the worst case of empathy and I like to put out good thoughts and vibes to others in my surroundings. Especially when I pass car accidents I always say good things out loud or in my head. It's just something that freaks me out, I always want the best for people even if I don't know them, obviously in the case of an accident who wouldn't but in general I hope for good things for everyone. Right now I'm really hoping for good things for me. I am almost done with school and I may or may not go back to school at this point for my bachelors. I really want to open my store in the city and I have it all planned out what the inside is going to look like and I want to work hard core on my accessory line and have that branched out into different locations. This summer is going to be big. I have a lot of work to do, but I am so driven. Okay this is getting really long but enjoy that picture (click it to see it larger, it's beautiful). I've been obsessed with cosmic images lately.

Well school has finally ended. The east coast just got slammed with a blizzard. 2 ft of snow in one day, maybe even three...the snow drift totally buried my truck. A truck! Lucky for me that means no work and lots of time to work on my designs. I've been inspired by spaghetti westerns and Indiana Jones as of lately. It's odd but i'm going with it.

This isn't recent news, but it's news to me I just stumbled across it and it baffled me. Rachel Zoe apparently has trademarked the terms "I die" and "Bananas". Okay really you're taking yourself a bit too seriously when your trademarking fruit. I've never felt like I didn't like something about Rachel Zoe but after reading an article about her lawyer serving a cease and desist letter for these phrases, I kind of got a bad taste in my mouth for her. The designer Christopher Sauve created a shirt that had a Andy Warholesque bunch of bananas that said "I Die. Bananas." (pictured below) In retaliation Mr. Sauve has taken it into his own hands and mocked the situation with a shirt with a pineapple that says "I Live. Pineapples." The proceeds for that shirt are actually going to a cause he has started "Free the Fruit" and I loooove how he has turned this situation around, it's comical and Rachel Zoe should take a little piece of humble pie and shush her mouth with it. I'm not sure I'd want to go down in history for trademarking either of those phrases, it's not so clever. Also she's not the first to have used them, just the first to be lame enough to actually trademark them.

When I first saw this spread I was absolutely blown away and smitten. Tim Burton is and has been one of my favorite directors since I first saw Edward Scissorhands as a young lil babe. The way he directs is so unique, even if it didn't say it in the beginning of each of his movies, you could tell when it's one of his films. This spread (by Tim Walker and styled by Jacob K) in Bazaar reflects his films and style through fashion. Aside from the fashion in this spread, the characters costumes in his movies are so amazing and elaborate themselves. That would be another great spread all in itself. I love that you can see thought goes into every little detail, no matter how small it may be. So I made a little collage of the images from the spread because I feel that these are a must see... the rendition of Edward Scissorhands is phenomenal. And seriously how fabulous is that giant Skeleton puppet?! Enjoy!

The bunny ears remind me of the Maison Michel bunny ears, I actually adore these I want the little mousey ones I think they're so great and playful.

High Contrast With a Splash of Color...

Basso & Brooke showed their Spring 2010 RTW line in London and it was eclectic and fabulous to say the least. Bruno Basso played a lot with the use of mixed patterns, and sheer fabrics for this line and I really enjoy the diversity. I also kind of fell in love with the high contrast between the neon on black or white with the swirly graphics. It really draws your eyes in and doesn't let them go. I especially love the dress that is a split of lightning with a whimsy sunset(esque) color fade. It reminds me of sun showers or heat lighting which are two things I love. I would love to own anything from this line they are such statement pieces all in themselves they hardly need any accessories. Just a great pair of shoes.

Fashion Week After Party...

The fashion week after party at M2 was amazing. I got my own little table with plates of yummy fruits and a cushy couch, right in front of where the models were walking. Me and Nicole had a really great time and we met some great people with interesting personalities. It was special and exhilarating to be on the other side of the velvet rope. Proenza Schouler entirely owns my heart in the fashion world. They're the greatest duo, their designs are so innovative. I love the combinations of fabrics, patterns and the angles. Their style is far from traditional and beautifully ground breaking to me at least. I adore their Spring 2010 RTW line. It's been a long time away. I have been completely engulfed in work. I busted my butt with Killa Luxe the whole summer and have sold so many pieces it has entirely blown me away how much success I've had with it so far. I've also been working a lot at the boutique and now classes have started as well. Saturday I am attending an after party for fashion week and I am absolutely thrilled to be on the guest list. I am however so baffled about what I might even wear, too exciting! I have so many ideas for great outfits I just can't decide on which way I want to go with it. I have always been extremely ambitious my whole life and although people like to tell me I have pipe dreams nothing I have wanted has been a dream thus far. I think everything is possible, and as long as you want it you can achieve it. Just have to be focused and actually attempt your goals. A lot of people believe they are pipe dreams because they are extreme, and the intangible but that's only true if you let it be. I make attempts at what I want and I don't stop until I get what I want. I live my life the way I want to, and no one can stop me from achieving my dreams. Not one person. Go as far as your dreams take you, and magic will happen. I promise you this.

The flowers are starting to pop up out of the ground in my yard. I'm so excited. So I created my first spring outfit because I am sick of the bulky heavy clothes. This outfit is flawless and amazing. So so cute. I cleaned my car, walked my dogs, and rode my bike today. It's way too nice to be inside, I'm so glad we're moving into warmer weather finally I love the outdoors.

That was said by Frederick Douglass. I've been in super inspiration mode and looking for things that will keep me focused and on track with my goals. I've come to realize a lot in the past few weeks about goals and your dreams. I've realized that really nothing is out of grasp. No dream is too big, or too extreme to become a reality. What matters is to work for it. Work hard. Things are not just given to people because they really want it. Opportunities present themselves frequently but sometimes people are not open to them, or they don't see them. You must be present with yourself and your surroundings, keep your eyes open to find those doors open to you and your goals. Sometimes (and most of the time) you have to start from the bottom up. That makes the goal that much more rewarding when you finally get there. I've realized that fear can get in the way of your biggest dreams. The simple fact that you might fail at what you want to do is discouraging, but if you keep working at what you want, and teaching yourself what you need to know, meeting people involved with what you want to do, you will get there. Sometimes you're so much in a rush to be at the finish line that you're passing up every opportunity to make it happen. You have to be fearless in order to succeed, and that is with anything you do in life. Everything you do, that you are passionate about, put your best foot forward, and work as hard as you can for it. It will come, just be patient and KNOW that it's going to happen. Knowing it's going to happen is a lot different than wanting, or thinking it will happen. You must know that it will happen, and it will. Think about the pyramids, do you see how much of a great achievement that was for the Egyptians? There were so many times that those people must have felt it was impossible to finish those massive creations, but centuries later, they're still standing, and they're finished. They had to do that relying on only their own strength, they didn't have machinery to help like we do now. Not only that, they've created more than one. When you feel like giving up think of great achievements like that from our predecessors. You really can do anything you put your mind to.

Believe in yourself and in your dreams.

Alright so it's been a while, but hey, I didn't forget about this at all. Just needed to find something worth writing about. You're probably wondering "Gladiator Sandals, really that's what made you want to write?" Yes! Yes it is. I knew these were going to be popular regardless of the flack they were getting. Well, if you had the balls to wear them last summer you better have the balls to wear them again this summer. Only taller and fringed! I'm telling you, the knee high gladiators are going to be huge, I have seen them used in a bunch of the spring fashion shows. They did not crash and burn last summer. If you want to get ahead of the trends and use that fashion confidence I was talking about, get ready for strapping. Kidding, most of these come with a cute little zipper up the back so you're not sitting there strapping 10 individually chipping your manicures( yeah right, mine is always chipped and I like it that way thank you very much. )

You know, this just popped into my head and made me want to write an entry right away. While I was looking through sets I've designed, I thought to myself "Some people would never have the balls to wear any of this...I would...I get a kick out of people wondering why I'd wear that" And I just wanted to say to all of you, you should have the same fearlessness. Having courage to be who you are is so ridiculously important and empowering. People love to hate people like that, but it actually helps you pick the people who are worth having in your life a lot quicker. It feels good to have fashion confidence, I love nothing more than wearing a outfit I know some people will think is ridiculous until they see the trend finally pop up in a magazine and then they feel it's okay. Be ahead of the trends, think with a fresh mind, wear something that's a bit outlandish. If it appeals to you, and you're gonna feel amazing in it, just wear it. Looking out for yourself is number one, always. What anyone else thinks is never important, and yes I am talking about fashion here, but this applies to anything you want to do. Flip off the naysayers, and be as outgoing as you'd like. "The World is your oyster." I've always liked that saying, although I don't really get where oysters come in to play haha. My own fashion sense is what actually inspired me to start creating my own line of accessories. There are so many things I'd have in mind before going to the store and not finding them so, why not create them myself? I'm sure there are other people with similar taste to my own. Anyways now that I've finished ranting about fashion confidence, the set I posted above is my latest set I've designed. I named it "Logman Chic" haha and yes you will catch me wearing something like it at some point. I have the biggest crush on the shoes, I want them so badly.

So we made it, another fresh start, and resolutions that we will try to remember and keep. I hope everyone had a great year, and if you didn't...well it's behind us. 2008 was a year of change for me, I've grown a lot. I'm a lot happier than I was in 2007, I've been a lot more focused on my future, my goals, and the steps I need to take to get myself to where I want to be.

Here is my 2009 resolutions:
-Get more traffic on this lil blog here.
-Work hardcore on Killa Luxe making the most beautiful jewelry ever!!
-Maintain a good amount of money in my savings account, and make lots of dough!
-Finish my degree already!
-Tone up a little bit more.
-Pay attention to my needs.
-Be more organized.
-Believe in my own dreams.
-Open myself to trying more new things.
-Continue to work on my own personal well being mentally, emotionally, and
physically.

Life Size Me...

I haven't posted anything I've done in a while, mostly because the art of I've done has been school related. That's all I've had time for really. This is for school but I actually love the outcome. Although, I must admit I bitched and moaned a whole lot during the process. We had to draw a life size, to scale, and proportioned, drawing of ourselves. So I was thankful that I am not a 7 Ft. Sasquatch, but a mere 5'4" little girl. I also used one of my photo shoot pictures instead of doing it from the mirror just to make things a little easier on myself. It was actually creepy at the end of it to be looking at myself but not in a mirror. Especially since my hair is no longer that short nor blonde. It's kind of fun to have a life size image of yourself. I suggest you make one of yourself, it's kind of neat to have in your room.

Bet you never guessed something as dismal and outdated as a typewriter could be your inspiration. In fact, it absolutely can be! I don't lie when I say you can find inspiration in any item. I thought of this one because I was just looking at my old teal typewriter from when I was little. It was my mothers when she was little that she gave to me. So I thought of the time, which would be the 50's when she was using it. The style was classy and that was their technology. That was their speedy way of writing letters. I think it's more romantic than a computer and E-mail, I can tell you that much. Severe Carpal Tunnel might be the outcome of pressing those hard keys though! Anyways, I thought about the typewriter, the clean lines, the keys, and the letters. The dress I chose completely relates to the typewriter. The black band going across mimicking the black roll on the type writer, and the rows of lace mimicking the rows of keys. I chose the initial ring for obvious reasons, and the typewriter necklace for even more of a obvious reason. The little pill box hat with the netting just reminds me of the time period a lot and I for one love them and wish I had a reason to wear one, maybe new years. Hmmm. Now go look around your room for a new item to make an outfit from! Shoo!

Signature Style...

Today, I've come to notice, not for the first time; but really acknowledged peoples signature styles. Signature items really. I started to think about this because there was a boy in my class I came to be friends with after class not during oddly enough, but he calls me headbands. He said one thing he always noticed about me and remembered me for is I always had a different headband and loved the color yellow. It's a fact, and he didn't need to know me at all outside of class or have to speak to me at all to know it. I am known for always having my crazy headbands in my hair (the elastic ones that go around your whole head), and I do like to have yellow items a lot. In fact my favorite headband I wear is my yellow one! It's cheerful ie: my banana inspiration piece. It's just a great color and works well with my complexion. My other friend Dillon told me he's gonna start just calling me head gear after I told him about that because I also always have a beret if not a head band. People I've noticed of my own friends that have signature items is for one my boyfriend, everyone knows him to have his green American Apparel hoodie vest. My friend Joey G, almost always in a red flannel shirt whenever I see him. My friend Mike Varga, always in his Mets Hat. And then there is celebrities, they always have their signature thing. Some of them, are ridiculous and outlandish, (Paris Hilton and a chihuahua?)but it's what you remember them for. I think having signature items are important. They are your own, and it's what you like and people can remember you for it. You're not just a blur in the crowd. I'm not saying go and shave one side of your head and dye the other half purple, that's just stupid(No offense if you're into that). Just have your own style, something that you really enjoy and is your favorite anything.

I decided I have to do an inspiration piece from sharks. They are my absolute hands down, favorite animal. They're so intense, and I love how vicious they can be or as harmless as a puppy at other times. They're unpredictable and I love that. You all know how much I love rings, so you can understand how in love I am with that one. I will have it around my finger at some point, trust me. See what kind of outfit you can come up with from your favorite animal, you just have to open up your mind and not think too hard about it. You'll see how easily all these ideas come to you.

Today's inspiration came right from the glass in my hand. I was drinking a coke, and it just goes to show how simple it is to draw inspiration from pretty much anything you can see. You can be as literal with it or just pull colors or shapes from it. I think it's always fun to have a piece of jewelry of almost literally what you drew your inspiration from. No one will know that's what it came from except you.

In response to this crappy rainy day in New York, I chose a banana as my inspiration. Why a banana?? Because it's bright and cheerful. Sometimes I wear my yellow hoodie on days like this because it changes your mood. It's a fact. I think the color yellow is amazing for that, maybe that's why they made that smiley face yellow all the time, so you'd feel happy about it. I wonder. Anyways I think this outfit is swoon worthy, and did you see I threw in the Andy Warhol banana? Of course I did. Any day it's pretty grey out, just throw on some bright colored clothes. Don't grab for the sweats to make it match the weather even more. You'll see a change in your mood, no jokes. Go Bananas! ( god i love being a corn ball, at least I can laugh at myself HA!)

Need an idea for your holiday cocktail dress this winter?? Flowers. Flowers are the most amazing items to pull inspiration from they're vibrantly colored and layered. Every cocktail dress should have some poof or texture to it. Try and stay away from the long and flat dress, it comes off as old and up tight. Have some fun with it and get something with a little bit of netting underneath to poof it up and pick bright colors! The simple black is so boring, stand out at the party and liven it up with some color! I think I'm going red this year. Although I wouldn't mind wearing everything in that set. Blue flowers is what came to mind first so I went with it. Perfect.

A Wii Fit?? Come on, those things are the most amazing pieces of exercise equipment in the 21st century. Everyone I've spoken to that has used it said they're so much fun and actually have seen results. So count me in, I need to jump on that bandwagon for sure. I have a extreme ring fetish, I absolutely love rings I have four that never come off my fingers not even in the shower(which wasn't too smart, Swarovski rings I found out can not be in water or the stones fall out...expensive pieces of junk. I still wear it anyway there's still 3 stones left! HA)I'm really in love with those rings up there. Especially the Jaguar. Swoooon! Miso Pretty chap stick is my absolute favorite, I've been using that blossoming cherry flavored one since I was 17! I just ran out of it again ( I go through it pretty quickly) and now my lips feel lost and I don't want chapped lips. I'm just being silly but I really need a new one seriously. Anyways...

Hello my avid readers, and by readers I mean the two of you! No who knows, I get a lot of views for a new blog. Anyways I am no longer a blonde, why you all care? You don't but I'm sharing anyways. I went back to my natural color which is a dirty blonde/light brown and I'm very happy about it. I didn't realize how much I loved my natural hair.

Funny stuff. Thought I'd share. I found these by accident they have a whole book of them they're called Kawaii Not. They're funny and cute. Kawaii actually means cute in Japanese. They're supposed to be cute with a twist that's why I like them. Me and Paul from BLG still keep in touch by the way, it wasn't just a random temporary thing. He's a super cool down to earth guy, it's refreshing to know that fame doesn't go to everyones head he's a cool friend to have.
Anyways, I need to talk about Volcano Tacos.

They have tickled my taste buds beyond belief, I crave them everyday. BUT it has to be chicken. I advise everyone to enjoy at least one of these at some point. So delicious and i'm contemplating making a T-bell run i'm so hungry and cravinnnng one horribly. MMM. I need suggestions of what you'd like to see on this blog. Last night was definitely a memorable, insane, night. I went to the Woodie Awards last year but the experience was no where near the one I had last night. It was hosted at the Roseland Ballroom again.It started out normal I had a few drinks I was watching Lykke Li play which I was absolutely stoked about because I love her music, and then it all changed from there. I realized I was standing in the line of fire because everyone that walked past me was a celebrity I was like wtf is going on? I then realized I was standing next to VIP the whole time, so me and my friends decided that we were going to get into VIP, and we did! We talked to the security guard for a bit and we weren't little sluts about it we just talked normal and literally flat out asked to go in and he was like okay go quick! SO that was awesome because I had no more money for drinks and from that point on they were free, and that is when my night really started. There was All American Rejects, Q-Tip,Chromeo, Moby, MGMT,Vampire Weekend,Paramore, Lance Rock, Tom Delonge...you name it they were there that's just who I remember seeing. After hanging out in VIP I was standing outside and idk how or why this even happened but me and my friends ended up talking to this band The Bride Wore Black, who honestly I never heard of and couldn't remember what band they were in and kept having them remind me the whole night. Anyways long story short, they wanted us to come to the after party that was at the Edison Hotel in Times Square, they told security that I was their PR girl and that was it, I was in like that along with my friend Nicole. The place was AMAZING, it was huge and decorated awesome.Free drinks once again, and the singer Martin from Boys Like Girls was talking to me and literally tried to kiss me( no jokes at all), and I gave him my cheek haha (I'm in a four year relationship)but no, it doesn't end there, besides the fact that he was super chill I just didn't really care for him all that much and I went back to the guys that got me there in the first place which were all really cool guys to hang out with, down to earth and not fucking creeps. Super refreshing. We stayed until they shut down the place and then were outside and then for some reason once again idk how I got thrust into this situation but I was somehow brought into a conversation with the guitarist, Paul DiGiovanni, also from Boys Like Girls,outside and he offered me HIS number, and then told me to text him so he could have mine, and I did. We talked for a little bit more, (about what? I couldn't tell you I have no clue) and then he was leaving and I was still with The Bride Wore Black, and probably 10 minutes later Paul already texts me saying they're at his hotel and to go there. So we all ventured to The Time Hotel, and seriously hung out drinking beers watching Conan. Which I then also shut down Paul, (We were sitting on the bed all of us and he tried putting his arm around my waist and I once again laid out the fact that I was in a relationship, him and john still went on to tell me how hot I was over and over and no one complains about that.) and you know the coolest part about it, he was super respectful and didn't turn into a dick because of it. It was like 5 when we left their hotel, I was shot. I still am, I didn't get home till around 7 this morning. Last night seriously blew my mind out of my expectations. It didn't end there though, Paul is still texting me today. He texted me when he woke up today and just before and wants me to come visit and stay in touch. I just like the fact knowing that he wasn't wasted, and the day after he still wants to talk to me regardless. I know some girls would die to be in my position, but last night seriously just made me realize even more than I already knew, how strong and true my love for my boyfriend is. They all said how much more they respected me for that because any other girl wouldn't do that. I will stay in touch with him, and stay friends with him,he's really cool and we have a lot in common but; I wouldn't turn my relationship in for anyone. Fame doesn't woo me haha. I got a kick ass friendship out of it though! Is that an amazing night? I think so. Another one for the books!

I've always had a fascination with Andy Warhol, since I was about 12. But,I just wanted to share this and blurt this out because I think it's extremely amazing and it makes me happy in a strange sense I can't explain. I've always had this huge strong attraction to Union Square, I've always brought my sketchbook there and always drawn out inspiration from sitting there and watching my surroundings. But I found out that Andy Warhol's studio after he had the factory was at 33 Union Square West! I always find these funny little things in life, things are a lot more connected in ways you sometimes might never get to realize. Like they say, things are never by coincidence. I believe that, and I just felt truly inspired and amazed by this. I've always had such a intense pull to Union Square and I love knowing this little fact that this is where he looked out his studio window and painted some of his greatest pieces. Little things like this can make my day.

That is my newest piece I put together on a whim last night. Lately I've felt so stifled creatively. I want to create so badly but I just have nothing going on upstairs in this head of mine. I am on a mission to find my muse! I need something or someone that is completely inspiring to get the wheels turning.

Things I plan to do to feel some sort of inspiration:
- Make a spring board
-Take Polaroids
- Record events and moments in my Moleskine
- Look through historic events
- Study our current culture

I hope something will spark some ideas, I am in such a rut.

Edie Sedgwick was the Fashion Icon of the 60's and believably so. Her sense of fashion was so uninhibited and free. Completely admirable. I feel like I chime on her fashion sense every once in a while, and her way of going about it. She would put together an outfit quickly and run out the door and it would all be pulled together flawlessly. You'd never guess no planning went into it. I think this is the greatest way to outfit yourself. You should love every piece you own and rock it when you wear it. I'm weeding out my closet for all the clothes that no longer reflect me and donating them. Fashion is a lot more exciting when you hold no boundaries for yourself, be the you you want to be no holds barred. Indulge in your inner Edie Sedgwick; and not just fashion wise but psychologically, (No do not go run and become a heroin addict!) but take risks, act spontaneously. Everyday can be a lot more interesting.

Today as I was parading around campus during my downtime, this girl walked by me and I am not one to judge but I couldn't help noticing this crazy teeter tottering horrible fashion disaster. Heels with a backpack. What the heck! Her outfit was cute otherwise but the extra weight was throwing her into a wobble. It was extremely packed out and it was making her hunched and completely contradicting what heels do for your walk and posture. Heels make you walk with graceful long sexy strides, and straight posture. Backpacks make you hunch and put your balance off and frankly make you look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Backpacks are actually horrible for your back and posture. So in response to this, I compiled a list of things that work for me, that you can do to lug those books around without having to sacrifice your style.

- Bring only the books for the class you have next and leave the rest in the car.
- Get a locker. ( Most colleges have them for students with art classes.)
- Take advantage of the oversized bag trend, or purchase a stylish tote and stuff them in there.
- If you know you're not going to need your text just bring a notebook and pen.

Go nuts and buy something that really screams your individual style.

Fall is showing it's beautiful face!

I for one have been extremely excited for fall. It is my absolute favorite season. The weather is perfect and the leaves are ridiculously beautiful. I could stare at them for hours. I'm not even kidding. My main goal is to actually make it to Central Park this fall. It's so insane the way it looks. It's almost unbelievable that it is real. Seriously looks like it is right from a movie set. (picture above is central park in fall...amazing!)

I'm going to be a complete child again come this fall, I can't wait to play in the leaves. I remember my parents had to call me in the house a million times in the fall because I'd constantly be in the leaves and I always had them stuck in my hair. I'm a fall baby and you can definitely tell. I have a whole new vibrancy during this season. Soy Chai Tea, Pumpkin Spice, Caramel Apple Cider. Thankfully my boyfriend works at Starbucks because I'd waste all my money on these drinks. Ohhhh man I get all sentimental and can't stop thinking about cuddling up in cozy sweaters watching a good movie with a great big cup of tea. Swooooning. I will have fun posts coming up with little crafty and fun fall activities and events. Just you wait.

I don't have as much time as I wish I did at the moment to dedicate to the blog but I don't want to give up on the blog either. Okay so this has nothing to do with anything this blog is about but to follow up on my moment with Cisco Adler, I messaged him on my space telling him how stoked I was to see him in person and how I should have just screamed his name and called him over instead of running away like a little girl! I've wanted to meet this dude since last year. His music is awesome and he always seemed like a totally fun dude to chill with. Anyways this was a follow up, it said he read my message but didn't answer, so I told him that wasn't cool but todayyyyy he did and I am so ridiculous. I know I am, trust me. It wasn't anything big haha but it made my day. All he said was:

and yes i like when girls scream my name"
Did you ever read the book The Secret? Well it says that the Universe always finds a way to bring things that you want or things that you want to happen, to you. It's always worked for me since I read it and was aware of this way of thinking. Yeah unrealistic that me and Cisco would become best friends, but we did see each other in person and have exchanged words. Close enough for me. :)

This weekend has been so eventful, I can not even begin to tell you. I barely had any time to stop moving it was insane. It was enjoyable everything, but painful! I came out of this weekend with a lot of cuts and bruises all on my own doing haha sheesh! Friday night we went to Annex and I was absolutely stoked because I haven't been there in a while and I love it there. I danced my little butt off the whole time it was great and I still highly recommend it there. It's such a fun atmosphere. Saturday I went to Warped Tour...I think this will be my last year. I feel a bit too old for it, not that I am old but it doesn't feel the same as it did when I was 15. The greatest thing ever was that Cisco Adler was there and I was not aware he was going to be. I'm sure for anyone else they could care less because most people either think he is a grime ball or saying "Cisco who?" Anyways, we had a moment ahaha he caught me looking at him and did something I don't know how to put into words but it was cute and then I ran back to my boyfriend and friends because I felt super silly. That was the biggest hi-light of my warped tour day I think. Sunday was MGMT and The Ting Tings, and I can't even express enough how great they both played. So amazing! The Ting Tings energy is insane and I completely fed off of it and MGMT was so on key they were great. On top of that there was intense lightning and thunder and it was pouring the whole while. It made things interesting to say the least. After that me and my friends ate at a place called Lokal, it's located on the corner of Nassau and Lorimer. It was so delicious, I got a grilled vegetable plate. I ate it so fast they were the most tasty vegetables ever I wanted more but I was unfortunately very broke this weekend. But my advice would be to try out their food, everyone thoroughly enjoyed theirs. So delicious. I do apologize for my long gaps in posting, I hope you could understand how busy my schedule has been and I will try my hardest to try and post more when I find little bits of time. Love you peeps!

Hello Bridge and Tunnelers! I finished my summer class today! So excited that I don't have to have that in the back of my head anymore. Now just summer lovin' and no worries. I am stoked. This weekend I'm going to see MGMT and The Ting Tings at where else than the McCarren Park Pool. I am so so excited. These are two of my most favorite bands. So I am expecting a good day with my boyfriend and good music. I've been getting these E-mails from DailyOM which also has a great book out as well that you should get into. It's all about the way the universe works and a better way at thinking and resolving conflicts in your life. From the most simple things to the most extreme it rationalizes everything. This is an excerpt from my E-mail today ( I swear I look forward to these every day, they keep me in line.) : "As you breathe rhythmically today, you may discover that your muscles loosen and your mental clarity returns." This whole E-mail was about getting rid of any anxieties or stresses that may come into your life simply by focusing on your breathing. The more shallow your breathing is when your anxious the less oxygen your body gets to to relieve itself of any mental cloudiness. Rhythmic breathing lets your body know everything is well. So you can basically breathe your way into wellness and it's so true. Your body does feel calm when you do breathing exercises. It's a big part of Yoga which I am also a major fan of. I would definitely check out DailyOM's website and add yourself to the mailing list. I have my e-mails sent to my phone so that I have them with me wherever I am at any part of the day. This weekend I really had so much fun and it was doing simple things, but I find that that is always the best. You don't always need a lot going on to have a good time with your friends. I went to BK around 12 AM on saturday night, completely random. (Me and Ryan weren't going to go till Sunday) We met up with a few of our friends and went to this bar The Levee. I almost immediately fell in love with this place. It was comfortable, fun, and had a amazing vibe. They have a really extensive menu for beers, some of the weirdest beers I've never even heard of but I stuck to PBR's because they were only $2 and you can't beat that. Their menu for food is almost funny but it's really what you'd like to eat when you're drinking. It consisted of things such as peanut butter and jelly, cheese balls, popcorn, a frito pie (never had or heard of it but it could be good!), ruffles and french onion dip and so much more but that is such a strange menu. They serve food till 4 AM too so it's pretty neat. Aside from their menu they have board games all over the place for you to play, me and my friends played Jenga and Connect Four. Games like these are so much more intense when you have a few drinks in you haha. After Levee we headed to another bar our friend Bryan was telling us about and he took us to this door that led to a long hallway, it was super discrete we were like " where the heck are you taking us?" The door had one of those things you slide like in the Wizard of Oz and he asks for a password, I had to make a crack at that. You don't need a password though (although I think that would have made things exciting), you open the door and then you're thrown into this super chic bar that I was absolutely thrown over about the decor. Not what I had expected. It was so nice and the fact that it was so discrete on the outside made it so much more surprising to see what was going to be on the other side. This place was called Larry Lawrence. You should definitely check it out with your friends, it feels like you have your own little secret world to yourself. I loved the place it was not what I expected. Sunday I did go to McCarren Park to see Matt and Kim and I had such a great time. Their energy is so extreme, Kim has the most giant smile the whole time she plays and Matt is just hysterical. Their energy together is so electric and contagious you can't help but feel good listening to their music and watching them play. If you missed them definitely try and see them next time they're around. They're awesome for a good spirit lift. Okay it's time for me to get some food in my belly it's yelling at me! How is everyone's summer going so far? Mine has been quite amazing and fun so far. I have no complaints. I wish the weather was consistently nice out but hey, the days (like today) that are beautiful I enjoy the best I can. This weekend I'm going to see Matt and Kim at McCarren Park Pool for free. I can't wait, it should be a great show and a fun day. It's this Sunday the 13th@ 2PM till dusk. I hope to see you guys there. You should really check out their music if you're not familiar with them. They're really upbeat and fun. I like to listen to them when I'm getting ready so I leave my house in a super good mood. I feel like I have minimal time this summer for everything that I planned. I forgot that even though I'm taking some classes online they would still be time consuming. I've been trying to juggle this blog, my art work, classes, my job, and a social life all at once. I enjoy it all though I don't feel like a bump on a log. I really hope you're all enjoying your summers and that the events I've been posting have been fun and interesting for you to go to. I really really hope to see you all there. Wet Hot American Summer!

McCarren Park Pool is having a screening of Wet Hot American Summer tomorrow night at 8PM for free. If you haven't already seen this movie you should it should be a staple in any ones list of favorite movies. If you have already seen it go see it again under the stars on a beautiful summer night. Bring your love bird and be cute together on a blanket giggling like little school girls to a great movie. That's not it though! The doors open at 4PM for live music and food you could make a whole day out of it. It will be one of those moments in summer that you'll never forget and think that was a really good day. I'm getting all starry eyed just thinking about it.

I've been quite busy with work and painting lately and my friend just had a baby! I've been away from bridge and tunnel a lot longer than I thought. Just a little overwhelmed with things. Anyways I just started reading The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (From A to B and Back Again) written by Andy Warhol. I haven't been able to put it down. It's so amazing the way his mind works, he writes the way he thinks and you can see how random his thoughts pop out...in the middle of talking about money he says "I hate sundays, there's never anything open..." and then continues talking about the "green". So in tribute to how much I love Andy Warhol...there is actually a event tomorrow in tribute to him, his work, and the factory and it should be absolutely amazing. It's tomorrow at Don Hills on Spring st. in Manhattan. There will be go go dancers, cabaret, makeovers, iconic artwork by Warhol, and live performances by The Rats, and The Hunt. If you are a fan of Warhol and his life and work this would be the event for you. It's $10 and starts at 10 PM. Go go go and have the time of your life and tell me all about it and take pictures because I will be at work . Major sad face for me. Arite loveys, I gotta go paint! Sorry for the long break in writing!

A Night in Brooklyn!

Saturday night after the bubble fight, I went to Brooklyn to meet up with a few friends. We planned to have a night of bar hopping. We started out at a place called Brooklyn Surf Bar. When you first walk up to the place you are greeted by a lot of decorative lights and a grassy awning, and as soon as you walk into the place you are literally walking on a floor coated with sand. It takes only a few seconds till you really don't feel like you're in Brooklyn surrounded by cement buildings anymore. They have really great strawberry Mojitos, which is what I sipped on there. Delicious! It had actual chunks of strawberries in it to eat. Yummy. We ate there and everyone was happy with their food, I just had a salad and some fries because I wasn't feeling quite hungry but I didn't want to drink on a empty stomach. Both of which were really delicious! After that we went to a place called Union Pool, absolutely fun and cool vibe. There's a lot of space inside and out back, where we spent most of our time. It has a outside deck and fountain in the middle of it. It's a perfect hang out on a summer night, we only stayed for a few drinks but it really is a fun place to go with friends. We carried on with our bar ventures and then headed to Royal Oak(pictured above) which I loved the decor for, very intimate leather seating spread out among 3 rooms. The bartenders were quick and friendly even though there were a lot of people there. There's also a foosball table in the second room! Alligator Lounge was the next stop and the great aspect of this place is with every drink you get a free pizza ticket. They serve brick oven cooked pizzas till 3:30 am absolutely free with your drinks. So you can save your pizza tickets for another night if you'd like even! It's a great deal and an awesome way to end the night if you're feeling hungry and already spent a lot on drinks. I had a great night, and if you're bored with your usual spots and want to switch it up I suggest trying any or all of these places. They're certainly not a let down.

I finally went to Madame Tussauds. It was so much fun, my boyfriend and I went. It was so eerie how real they looked, sometimes we couldn't tell which ones were wax figures or real people standing in the room. Robin Williams was my favorite, he looked so real that it almost felt uncomfortable to stare at his face. I really wanted to take a picture with Jack Sparrow because I have a ridiculous obsession with him but they had him roped off. He was the only figure you had to pay to take a picture with. I had a major sad face when that happened. That was not going to ruin my day though! After that, we went to the Bubble Battle in Times Square and it was so amazing. I had the biggest cheesy grin on my face the whole time it was so much fun, it made me feel like a kid again. Me and Ryan bought a giant jug of bubbles and a super big wand that made what we called 'bubble bombs'. The wand made globe sized bubbles and they'd pop on peoples heads, it was so funny. It was so beautiful and fun for such a large group of people to get together and just be light hearted and free spirited on a perfect summer day. Everyone was having so much fun we stayed there for about an hour and a half just making bubbles and meeting new people. It was such a great day. I actually ran into Gala in Toys 'R Us, I was glad to see her! All in all it was a perfect day and I hope those of you that came had an amazing time! I have a few new bars and restaurants to tell you guys about that I went to in Brooklyn last night but I'll save that for tomorrow. Have a great night loveys.

I just stopped by Gildas Blog, and she had a quote that Sheryl Crow said that had inspired her post and by reading her post it inspired me. I think everyone should see this:

I thought I should pass this on, because I feel sometimes ( a lot with people I know even) that people worry too much about how they look to other people, or their own friends and family even. The only person you should worry about is yourself. If you're happy with the person you are than that's all you need. If you want to wear a tutu because that's the mood your in, do it! Who cares about the strangers? You'll never see them again anyways, live in the moment. I own everything I do all the time. I know I'm the only person that will ever be responsible for my happiness, where my life is going, and who I have in it. So today make that your priority and own who you are. You will always be happy with your life when you take charge of your own happiness. No one else can do it for you. Don't be one of those strangers that look at people who choose to look the way they want, because they do own themselves and they are happy with the way they are. They're living their life they want to and that should be inspiring to you instead. It is extremely empowering to love yourself, it'll do wonders in your life and will make it a lot more fulfilling. I hope this was as inspiring for you as it was for me.

So today has been a beautiful day so far. I'm so happy about that, it's been raining like crazy every day. I just want to see blue skies for a week straight! You all have no idea how stoked I am for this. I've been in love with bubbles since I was little. They're so pretty. I'm easily stimulated if you can't tell. This Saturday I'm going to have so much going on but you better believe I'm going to document it all for you guys. Hopefully some of you will also take part in it! It's all going to be a lot of fun. Bubble Battle is taking place this Saturday in Times Square @ 6:21 (yes weird time I'm aware haha). Bring your bubble machines, bubble guns, and good old fashioned bubble wands and lots of ammo and if you really want to stand out you should bring one of those giant wands and make the biggest bubbles ever. Newmindspace the same doers that brought you the giant pillow fight in Union Square back in March are fronting this. There will be a good amount of people taking part in this, it's going to look awesome. There will be bubbles floating all over Manhattan and I can't wait. Hope to see you there!

Music, Fashion, Food, and Drinks all in the same place this weekend! I'm thinking this might be a really fun event to go to. I just spotted it and I wanted to share it with all of you. Let's Dance...

Just like David Bowie. I would love to dance with David Bowie. Anyways, some girl that's new to Brooklyn and New York all together just asked me what one of my favorite clubs to go to was, which inspired me to write this post. I haven't mentioned any clubs yet. My absolute favorite that I told her is Annex. I danced my ass off there and had an amazing night on my 21st and I must go back soon!
Annex is Located at 152 Orchard St. in Manhattan. It's 3 floors of fun, full bars, couches upstairs, dungeon downstairs, with another bar. They play awesome music, the first floor and second floor there's a DJ playing music and downstairs there's a mix of indie music being played and is more of a hangout. On the first floor everyone is flailing on the dance floor and you should join them! It is my promise to you that you will have a good night here. Friday nights is Ruff Club, that was going on when I went and it was a great time. They have weekly parties Wed, Thur, Fri, and Sat. So check their site and see what's going on and who will be playing. Hope to see you there!

Oh Peanut...

I caught my pup making a funny face. I just wanted to introduce my girly because I will probably mention her at some point. The best pup you could ask for. I adopted her at Social Tees which is a place that works with the ASPCA so you can pick out dogs there and then go pick them up at the shelter and adopt them for free. If you're ever looking for a pup (or any animal, they even have reptiles) please go there first and save some animals. This dog seriously is the best dog I could've asked for she is the most ridiculous dog I've ever met and has the funniest personality. She's a total mush and cuddling up next to me as I type because she's the cutest. Socialtees is located in Manhattan on 124 4th Street near 1st Ave. So if you're looking for a new pet, and want to save a life stop by. Ask for Rob.

Not me apparently! I broke my thumb I found out today. I sprained it (so I thought) on Memorial Day playing wiffle ball. I was drunk enough to believe I was a amazing athlete and tried sliding to the home base. I knew something was wrong as soon as I hit the ground. My thumb was killing me. So I purchased one of those handy dandy thumb splints from the drug store trying to avoid the doctor. That was 3 weeks ago and I still can't bend it so today I decided it was time for an x-ray and sure enough I have a lovely piece of my bone floating around. ( you could see it in my x-ray gross!) That could be why it doesn't bend eh? So the lesson here is, no matter how drunk you are, remember you are still not an all star athlete.

Cake shop till you drop!

So there's a joint named Cake Shop that I'm super excited about. It's in Manhattan. Records, cupcakes, and beer. How amazing is that? Sounds like fun to me. On the first floor you will find a sweet little cafe full of scrumptious treats and coffee and then when you move on to the back room you'll find a room full of records ranging from Soul to Indie. Take the green stairs to the dark downstairs and there you'll find a full service bar furnished with a full row of theater chairs and a church pew! Pretty crazy decorating scheme but I'm definitely into it. If you want to check it out and it sounds like your place to be, it's located at 152 Ludlow, near Stanton. Go get some cupcakes and send me some while you're at it! <3

Nerd? Maybe...

So maybe it is the nerd in me but I just don't care. I found out that you can still see the White Star Line port at Chelsea Piers. You can still make out where the lettering was for White Star Line. It's supposedly Pier 54, I plan on going this weekend I'll post pics for you. I've been such a Titanic nerd before the movie even came out. ( And you better believe I'm going to watch the movie after this post haha) For some reason it fascinated me entirely.

Anyways how are my lil loveys? I hope you're all having a great start to the week. I am exhausted! I had work all day. You'd think selling books wouldn't take so much of a toll on you right? I have a few paintings to bust out still too. I plan on selling at the Brooklyn Flea pretty soon. I'll let you all know the exact date so you can come say hi! :) Fill me in on what you've been up to or if there's any places you guys know of that I haven't mentioned yet that you'd like me to.

This painting was obviously inspired by Snow White. I've been doing a fairy tale series inspired by my favorite childhood damsels. This one I wanted to integrate some collage work into. Sometimes I feel that just paint is a little boring and some other types of media worked into it make things a little more interesting.

This Painting I've absolutely fell in love with I wish I could keep it but I already listed it so I will have to say goodbye. I'm really going to hate to see this one go. I was doing a non-objective expressionistic piece and it turned into a lotus and oh yeah I love it so much. It's so so pretty and I had so much fun making it. I love doing non-objectives it's so fun to see what they turn into at the end. This was just a bunch of blobs all over the paper at first. Insane.

What do you guys do that's creative on your free time? I'd love to see some of the other talent from NY. Even if you're not from NY heck send it anyway! I love seeing other peoples work, it's amazing how different peoples styles can be especially on the same subject matter.

Bob Dylan At Prospect Park

You all have no idea how ridiculously excited I am for this news. I was saying not too long ago how much I wish he would start his tour again. I really wanted to see him before he doesn't tour anymore. Not only is he touring but he's going to be playing at Prospect Park for Celebrate Brooklyn! This amazingness is on August 12th at 8pm. I for one will be there hands down. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 AM! If you want to be there you better be ready by the phone with the number on speed dial by 9:59. Here is the link to his tour dates if you aren't in the NY area and still want to see him play. EEEE so excited!Hope to see you guys there, i'll be sitting on a blanket relaxing with some friends on the lawn. :)

It is so hot today! I love the summer and all but sometimes I'd prefer to sit in the AC all day in comfy clothes and work on my paintings. I went to Six Flags yesterday and my god, it was 92 degrees there. I got in trouble for walking around in my bikini top. I was like really? I'm gonna have heat stroke. Not so much, but it was way too hot I just wanted to run around in my bikini and not wear my clothes. Me and my boyfriend couldn't even kiss each other without getting sweat on our lips. Yeah, how gross is that? So in response to the summer swelter I decided to give you a few fun places to go in the summer here and beat the heat. Aren't you excited? You should be!

Manhattan

300 New York- Located at Chelsea Piers, you can go bowling here and escape the heat while knocking down some pins and drinking some fancy martinis (or whatever your choice drink is.) Between Piers 59 & 60 , 23rd St. & the Hudson River

MOMA- This museum is amazing (and air conditioned), it's a fun thing to do during the day and check out some great art. Have fun and then get some yummy food afterwards.

Brooklyn

Don Pedros- Latin American, South American cuisine in a really fun atmosphere. Check their website for the look and feel of what they've got going on there. Great food, fun atmosphere and cheap beer. Could you ask for more really? 90 Manhattan Ave near Boerum.

Barcade- Spacious and lofty, barcade is exactly what it sounds like. It's a bar arcade with a line up of classic arcade games like Donkey Kong and Moon Patrol. It never feels crowded because of the lofty space it's in and there's a great amount of beers to choose from. Awesome.

I would add more but I have to go to work and sell some books. I'll update later with more but those are absolutely fun and cheap places to go and get out of the heat.

A little book of Warhol...

Andy Warhol is one of my personal favorite artists. Not only because of his quirky and colorful art, but because of the person he was. Andy was such a intriguing individual if you ask me. I would give one day just to see the world through his eyes. I wish I lived in his time so I could be friends with him. He is so inspiring to me. These albums are as close as you can get to seeing his world. It's a collection of his Polaroids and I think they're brilliant.These little books are sold at Alphabets. My favorite little shop on Avenue A between 7th St and St.Marks Place. This shop has a lot of really neat finds you hardly ever will see anywhere else. They also sell my favorite chap stick which makes me love it even more. If you're looking for something really different and unique for a gift; this is the place to go. Definitely take a gander if you're in the neighborhood, you will love it.

80's Baby!

So the 80's style is definitely back in action. It feels a bit odd since I was a 80's kid and the style is already back. I thought it would take longer than that. But here in NY I've seen nothing other than kids looking like they walked out of a bad 80's movie. The style isn't bad though. I can't say it hasn't snuck it's way into my closet a little bit yet. I'm really into these 80's shades. I really really like them. You can get them for $10 at Day-Lab. One of my favorite sites for unique items. Really sweet accessories. Check that out and for you men...they have Night-Lab. Also really cool stuff for guys. I promise you, you will fall in love with these sites. Arite I need to get some shut eye. I have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow.

So Busy...

I can't believe how busy and eventful the start of my summer has been already. TOO much going on. Parties, Art, Trips. Amazing and fun but I am pooped!Anyways, there is one restaurant that I need to rave about. It is the greatest little Thai food joint and I've been going there since I was 17 years old. Absolutely amazing, delish, affordable, and fantastically decorated. It's called Spice (I gave you the menupages link, their site seems to be down) and if you haven't heard about it get your little booty there now! It's so so good.I haven't gone in a few months and I'm craving it badly. It's located on the corner of 10th and University( 60 is the building number to be precise). So after you're done hanging out in Union Square watching the break dancers go nuts, go eat some Thai. My absolute favorite dish is Tofu Rama. It is so delicious I can't say it enough. It's a bunch of vegetables with chunks of tofu drizzled with peanut sauce and jasmine rice to add to it. Yum. And I usually get the curry puffs. They're full of potato and a sweet curry in a flaky crust. Also scrumptious. Their Pad Thai is also to die for. Yum Yum. You can also call them for take-out and they come speedy on their bikes with some great food. Amazing on a rainy night I tell you. Can't wait for this weekend. I'm also going to Madame Tussauds to see Jack Sparrow. I found out he's there and I decided I absolutely must go now. I think it's quite crazy to be attracted to such a dirty pirate but hey, I have no problem admitting it. Okay I gotta head out, but I'm really happy to get this page going! I'm going to set aside time everyday to make sure I can write for you all and keep you updated with the happenings here in NY.
